Meet Our Team

Muhammad Touré

Imam Muhammad Touré’ is one of the teachers and spiritual leaders in our community and considers himself a lifetime student of knowledge. He has served our community for a number of years teaching and counseling youth throughout the country in various institutions. He has also worked in the prison system for over 20 years, teaching those incarcerated and facilitating their religious needs. He continues to do community outreach and advocate for those under served.

Yusuf Cortez

Part owner of Illuminated Development LLC, a residential and commercial development company providing community development and focusing on youth cultivation. He continues to find ways of giving opportunity for the next generation by providing on-the-job training and also life skills. Biggest achievement is going through the same training that is being offered and understanding what is needed, from his own personal experiences. Since joining Fodiwa Inc., he is committed to help it grow and provide construction training.

Amirah Touré

Our teacher and leader in the Yan Taru women’s organization. She is a full time mother and homeschool teacher to her own children and freely volunteers as a teacher’s assistant and after school tutoring at local schools. She has served our community for the pleasure of Allah for over 20 years, by facilitating educational programs, activities, and counseling for women and children. She is devoted in promoting learning and community development for those now and our future generation

 

Jamila Davis

Jamila Davis has a passion for learning and making a lasting impact on the lives of young people with an emphasis on engaging the pre-teen and teenage age groups. She is a wife, mother, and entrepreneur. A Georgia native and University of Georgia Alumni with experience and expertise in conference planning, operations management, and analyzing data.

Fatima Cortez

Fatima Cortez is a Colorado native who grew up in New Jersey and settled in Atlanta, Georgia in 2009. She has had an affinity toward community development and planning since her first exposure to the nonprofit world through volunteering as a teenager, rehabilitating low income housing. She achieved an undergraduate degree from Georgia State University in Urban Planning and has over 20 years of progressive expertise and a proven track record of success in quality management, project management, process improvement and business analysis/evaluation. She has a keen understanding of business priorities, a genuine team player committed to managing operations and projects flawlessly while contributing to revenue-producing activities. She is a cross-functional communicator who enjoys cultivating top-performing teams who are committed to professional excellence.

Aminah Touré

Aminah Toure’ is a third year college student at San Francisco State University who is currently studying Child and Adolescent Development. She is one of the youth leaders of the Yan Taru organization for women and children. She was raised in our community and has volunteered her services for a number of years, assisting with teaching youth, creating programs and helping with community outreach. She aspires to be a teacher and has a love for learning.
